Taraji P. Henson Wins Golden Globe Award For Her Role In ‘Empire’…

Taraji P. Henson may have missed out on winning the Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy in September, but last night she took home a Golden Globe Award for her role in Empire. The 45-year-old Washington, DC native beat out Caitriona Balfe (Outlander), Viola Davis (How To Get Away With Murder), Eva Green (Penny Dreadful), and Robin Wright (House Of Cards).

This was Henson’s third major award for her role as Cookie Lyon on the series about a music industry family. She previously won a BET Award and a Critics’ Choice Television Award.

Empire was nominated for Best TV Series – Drama at the Golden Globes, but lost to Mr Robot. Other winners at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association hosted event included Christian Slater for Mr. Robot, Jon Hamm for Mad Men, Lady Gaga for American Horror Story: Hotel, Jennifer Lawrence for Joy, Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant, and Sylvester Stallone for Creed.
