Global queer digital TV network, Revry, toasts the holiday season with new Originals Dorians Dish and Hank along with original series BIFL’s premiere on the 24/7 live womxn channel OML on Revry.
This Friday, Dec. 18th, premieres the Revry Original Dorians Dish where broadcast veteran, Karel, asks esteemed GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics Members–including top entertainment editors and journalists Tracy E. Gilchrist (Editor-in-Chief, Advocate), Eric Andersson (Senior Editor, TV Guide magazine), Michael Musto (The Daily Beast, Queerty), Dino-Ray Ramos (Associate Editor, Deadline Hollywood)–about the state of TV. The special also offers a behind-the-scenes scoop from the recent Dorians TV Toast 2020 on Revry.
Last September’s inaugural Dorians TV Toast was a rousing success across a multitude of platforms, making it one of the most-watched LGBTQ-themed award shows of 2020. “So,” says Dorians Dish host, Karel, “I thought it’d be interesting to get some Dorian voters to reveal what they think of the outcome of their own group’s picks—that’s something you don’t see at regular awards shows. We’ve got some media heavyweights, so buckle-up!”
The Dorians Dish special, featuring 16 GALECA members, also includes Liz Shannon Miller (Senior TV Editor, Collider), Ren Jender (The New York Times), Tre’vell Anderson (co-host of Maximum Fun’s FANTI podcast), Erik Anderson (Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Awards Watch), Manuel Betancourt (ET Online, Vulture), Topher Gauk-Roger (People, CNN), Wadooah Wali (Society’s Advisory Board) Jane Velez-Mitchell (#JaneUnChained), Jose Bastidas (Assistant Arts & Entertainment Editor, The San Francisco Chronicle), Kevin Fallon (The Daily Beast), John Griffiths (Emmy Magazine, AARP) and Tariq Raouf (host of the Entertainment Queerly podcast).
Also, this Friday, festival favorite and Revry Original, Hank, premieres at 5:45 pm (pst) on Revry starring Jason Stuart (Tangerine, The Birth of a Nation and Smothered on Revry) from award-winning director Hongyu “Neo” Li. Critically hailed “Fantastic”, “Important” and “Very touching!”, Hank struggles with a recently opened marriage, where a middle-aged gay man must decide if the relationship is worth his compromise. Li shares “I began to wonder if the question of opening up the relationship was a dilemma for couples who have been together for many years. So I started to research the lives of older gay men, thinking ‘How do they struggle with stereotypes? And what do older gay couples, who no longer fit these stereotypes do when their long term relationships hit hard times?’” Hank authentically explores the challenges older gay men face and the often heartbreaking choices they make to keep their marriages alive.
And on December 31st, Revry’s queer womxn channel, OML on Revry, is ringing in the New Year with the cast of BIFL, an original, comedic series created by and for a wide variety of LGBTQIA+ identities. Crack open a bottle or two with Jill, played by Anisha Adusumilli (LUCIFER, ALL AMERICAN,) as she works through the trials and tribulations of being in love with her best friend Chloe, played by Andrea Nelson (MODERN FAMILY). Written by Kelsey O’Regan and produced by Daren Taylor and Amber Rivera, the series centers on intersectionality grounded in meaningful, real-life situations that set the stage for expectations, different shades of intimacy, and what it really means to love someone.
Finally, look out for Revry Wrapped: 2020, a countdown of Revry’s favorites from the past year. The list will be dropping December 16, with the Revry Wrapped lineup playing New Year’s Day.
