N0t Listed Releases “BopShop”

BopShop, the debut EP from N0t Listed, dishes dance, pop and R&B songs that can be cranked at the club or while in mirrors at home preparing for a late-night kiki. “We wanted the mood of this EP to be the three F’s: Fun, Fierce and Fab,” says member Kayvon. With songs like “Ridin This Wave,” and “Feel So Alive,” the EP delves into all aspects of relationships with an ultimate message that love wins. “Close My Eyes,” the EP’s second single, is the moodiest and darkest on BopShop. The song about trying to escape or pretend one’s way out of a bad situation serves the drama with heavy electro-dance and ethereal vocals. Its accompanying music video, directed and conceptualized by Mike Ruiz, is trippy, like an acid trip gone wrong, with the guys dressed in eye-catching lewks. It is available on Vimeo. The BopShop EP is available now on Apple Music, Spotify and all digital platforms.

“We recorded the EP at Josh’s Manhattan studio as it was more central for the group and also where all the equipment was,” explains Kayvon from his Jersey City home. “Leo started calling Josh’s apartment the BopShop and when it came time to decide on the name of the EP, it only made sense to name her after the place she was birthed.”

Leo, Kayvon and Josh make up the band, N0t Listed. The three southern guys of different ethnic backgrounds (Josh is Mexican American, Kayvon is Iranian American, and Leo is African American) met in NYC’s underground queer circuit. Each falls under a different classification of the LGBTQIA umbrella; Josh identifies as gay, Leo as bisexual and Kayvon identifies as non-binary and pansexual.

Ruiz also incorporates all the elements of queer nightlife culture that the band loves, including fashion, makeup and dance. “Every track on the EP is a bop but “Close My Eyes” and our previous single, “Ridin’ This Wave” are definitely both songs that let it all out on the dance floor,” says Kayvon. “They are kind of the yin to the other’s yang.”

As Leo adds, “Whether we are voguing at the club, posing in front of a bodega, or swinging our wrists around in Josh’s Manhattan studio, we are always serving and having a good time!”

N0t Listed’s “Bop Shop,” is being distributed independently and is available on Apple Music, Spotify and all digital platforms.
