This piece is very personal for me. Not only because I was included in it but because this is my life, my upbringing, my story and the story of so many I know. This special has allowed for many Black Churchgoing LGBT individuals to realize that they are not alone and that there are people who understand and relate to their story. This piece has started a lot of conversations amongst the Church community and it has raised many questions. If you haven’t seen it, take a view and let me know your feedback.
Holler If You Hear Me: Black and Gay in the Church received major critical acclaim, and was acknowledged by several major outlets including MSNBC, VH1, Essence, Raynbow Affair Magazine, HuffPost Live, and, of course, BET.
