Bounce queen Big Freedia will kick off her 2015 Bounce Shakedown Tour with a hometown show in New Orleans on October 20th before trekking across the United States through mid-November.
Big Freedia Reflects on Miley, Coming Out in New Memoir
The rapper-singer will be joined by her crew of back-up dancers, the Divas, while fellow New Orleans rapper Boyfriend will open; Seattle outfit Hibou will also join for shows between October 20th and 30th. Tickets for the entire tour are currently on sale via Live Nation. A complete list of dates is below.
Along with the tour, Big Freedia is prepping for the September 18th release of her new single, “Crazy” off the follow-up to 2014’s Just Be Free. Season Four of her Fuse show, Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce, is also slated to return on September 30th at 11 p.m. ET.
Per a new trailer, the season centers around a European tour as well as the writing of Freedia’s memoir, Big Freedia: God Save the Queen Diva!, which hit shelves in July. At the time of filming, Freedia was given two months to hand in the manuscript while dealing with a break-up and various projects. Despite her hectic schedule, however, the trailer shows Freedia never faltering during her outlandish live shows.
“I like to cross over to whatever comes in front of me,” Freedia told Yahoo! Music earlier this year about her ability to win over audiences. “I have a lot of different bands I’ve traveled with, toured with. I like to shock all the different audiences. Even if it’s not my audience, about the time I get done, I have picked up half of those fans. That’s what’s important: just keep picking up fans, opening up to a lot of different audiences, and keep drawing those fans into the Big Freedia movement.”
