Nia’s versatility as an actress is also exemplified in her leading role in the new holiday film A New York Christmas Wedding, currently streaming on Netflix. As her Christmas Eve wedding draws near, Jennifer Ortiz (Nia Fairweather) is visited by Azrael, a Yuletide angel, and shown what could have been if she hadn’t denied her true feelings for her childhood best friend, Gabrielle, who died 20 years prior. Glamour Magazine credits the film for showing the evolution of the ‘Cheesy’ Christmas genre.
Nia is now developing New Amsterdam, the feature film adaptation of her viral short film, OORDEEL, the TV series expansion of Four Seasons (which will also be featured in the Diversity in Cannes Film Festival), and sharing discoveries along the way in Fire Spun, an audio short story series.
A firm believer in the importance of giving back and community, Nia is a volunteer and supporter of the Assistance League of Los Angeles, A People’s Concern (formerly LAMP Arts), an art studio and creativity center serving LA’s Skid Row community, GLIDE’s Meal Program, and United Way’s HomeWalk, which works to end homelessness.
