On November 17, 2022 – the world celebrated the life & legacy of the late Young Dolph. Just a few days ago, November 17th was declared Dolph Day, as a day of service in Memphis and Atlanta, GA. In support of this meaningful day, Mia Jaye (Dolph’s fiancee), and her company “Black Men Deserve to Grow Old” hosted a Dolph Day of Service at the late rapper’s high school in Memphis, TN, which was also sponsored by the Ida Mae Foundation – which is Young Dolph’s family foundation. Her team brought together organizations and businesses to give back to the students at Hamilton High School.
Students enjoyed a presentation in Dolph’s honor to talk about reaching greatness and inspiring them with the notion that all dreams can be achieved. Speakers included Dr. Michael Lowe (Memphis-Shelby County Schools and the African American Male Academy), Pastor Terrell Monger, Mr. Michael Bates, and Castalia Bee. Additionally, cohort sessions were organized that focused on Group Conflict Resolution, Yoga and Mediation, Art Therapy, and Emotional Intelligence. The Black Men Deserve to Grow team also had mental health counselors available on-site for students that chose to have deeper therapeutic conversations.
Mia Jaye spoke to the students one-on-one and the team plans to continue more services in Dolph’s honor. The goal is to impact the next generation, helping them create a vision outside of any unfortunate circumstances and granting them access to local resources.
