The Wrecks hit us with the Deluxe to ‘Sonder’

The Wrecks have shared the Deluxe Edition of their critically-hailed June 2022 sophomore album Sonder in tandem with releasing a video for “Normal (Acoustic).” Sonder (Deluxe) collects not only their distinctive witty, frantic genre-bending tracks that made the original album land on Spotify’s Top 10 U.S. Album Charts release week (“Sonder,” “I Love This Part,” “Lone Survivor,” and “Where Are You Now” featuring girlhouse), but also adds two acoustic versions including “Normal (Acoustic)”, two remixes done by Molly Otto and new originals entitled “Wish I Never Met You” and “Soapbox.”

With the lyrics such as “I’m getting used to your silenceyou can’t hurt me like I can” the original version of “Normal” is undoubtedly forlorn, but the newly released acoustic version – with vocalist/producer Nick Anderson’s lingering vocals – renews the anguish. Directed by Matthew Heywood (who’s been on tour with the band), the video for the grief-stricken “Normal (Acoustic)” was filmed this week in Carrboro, NC at Cat’s Cradle. “It was such a fun venue and city to play,” Anderson adds.

Sonder (Deluxe) arrives right as the band are in the midst of their Back And Better Than Ever Tour which kicked off with a performance at Sonoma Harvest Festival in Sonoma, CA on October 9 and features support from CARR and Arlie. The tour has already made its way through cities such as Las Vegas, Boulder, Madison, Detroit, and Athens with shows coming up in Tampa, Houston, Fort Worth, Tucson, and more before concluding on November 19 at Majestic Theater in Ventura, CA. Tickets and VIP can be found at WeAreTheWrecks.com
“Feels good to finally have the Deluxe out,” Anderson exclaims. “I went from the first part of this tour in the Summer straight into finishing this and then right into the Fall tour (where I finished a lot of the record during the first few days).”

Leading up to their tour kick-off, the band released the blustering alt-pop single “Things You Make Me Do” which Anderson says is about being in an inescapable one-way relationship.
