We The Best Music Group’s newest young starlet, Steph Lecor, got her big break from an unlikely group of music icons that were rocking stages before she was even born.

“My first real step into the industry was as a backup singer on the Van Halen tour,” Steph tells BET.com. “At that time I was really afraid of performing and I had a lot of anxiety about getting on a stage, so I went on a tour to force myself to get on a stage and to prepare for my future. That tour is what really started my career because it forced me to face my fears and get on stage in front of 20-30,000 people every night. I honestly owe my career to that situation.”

After traveling the world with the classic rockers and a failed stint with an independent label in Connecticut as a member of the pop group Kulture Shock, Steph began to find success as things dissolved with the group. She decided to roll the dice and persevere solo.

“I was signed to Worldwide Music Group, who’s responsible for launching the careers of Flo-Rida and Rick Ross,” she explains. We did great things, traveled the world, went to Africa, opened up for some huge names like J-Lo, Calvin Harris and Ariana Grande.”

Steph’s solo pursuit of happiness led her to a meeting with DJ Khaled about three months ago, which resulted in a deal with We The Best Music Group.

The Haitian-born singer wasted no time getting to work to try to prove that she belonged among the best. Her debut single, the NSFW playgirl anthem “Saturday,” has already penetrated the airwaves across the country and helped her embrace her own versatility.

“‘Saturday’ was my real first time rapping on a record, so I was a little nervous to step into that world of music cause I’d never done it before,” she admits. “I didn’t want to be perceived as a rapper, but ‘Saturday’ is melodic and I feel like from there we can still go in a more melodic direction.”

Like her label boss, the rambunctious DJ Khaled, Steph reps the 305, which she credits for the cultural versatility within her sound.

“Being in Miami with the different cultures around I’ve definitely utilized different influences in my music,” she says. “My dad was in a Haitian band so it’s all definitely influenced me. You’ll hear all of my influences when my project comes out. Until then, the focus is just ‘Saturday.’ We’re getting ready to shove that down your throat as much as possible.”

In case you didn’t know, now you do. She is ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey Steph……….
