Let’s talk. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to finally catch up on this season of “Eden’s Garden.” Based on the synopsis,
Eden’s Garden is a web series that premiered fall 2015. The series is starring an all male transgender cast, created by Seven King.
Before I get into my review of the show, let’s touch on a few things:
Sexual orientation
An inherent or immutable enduring emotional, romantic or sexual attraction to other people.
Gender identity
One’s innermost concept of self as male, female, a blend of both or neither – how individuals perceive themselves and what they call themselves. One’s gender identity can be the same or different from their sex assigned at birth.
Gender expression
External appearance of one’s gender identity, usually expressed through behavior, clothing, haircut or voice, and which may or may not conform to socially defined behaviors and characteristics typically associated with being either masculine or feminine.
Transgender
An umbrella term for people whose gender identity and/or expression is different from cultural expectations based on the sex they were assigned at birth. Being transgender does not imply any specific sexual orientation. Therefore, transgender people may identify as straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, etc.
Gender transition
The process by which some people strive to more closely align their internal knowledge of gender with its outward appearance. Some people socially transition, whereby they might begin dressing, using names and pronouns and/or be socially recognized as another gender. Others undergo physical transitions in which they modify their bodies through medical interventions. Read more.
Gender dysphoria
Clinically significant distress caused when a person’s assigned birth gender is not the same as the one with which they identify. According to the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), the term – which replaces Gender Identity Disorder – “is intended to better characterize the experiences of affected children, adolescents, and adults.”

Now that we have gotten the basics out of the way I can begin. Eden’s Garden is a series that forces you to think outside the box. In all actuality the series forces you to forget the box entirely. With a cast of all FTM Transgenders the diverse culture that is being represented pushes the gender identity norms and makes one say to themselves, “hmmm.”
The “hmmm” aspect comes in when you see Seven hit your screen and you realize how FINE he is and all the things you would do to him on a god, bad, or medium day. Then you realize that Seven is FTM and carries himself in a way that you are forced to not look at gender or gender identity but the swag in which he eludes across the screen. This on top of the fact that his character is the glue to the show allows for one to focus their vies on him and begin to look outside of the box based on the experiences that he presents.
The character of “Eden” in episode 1 takes you on what I consider a “Day in the Life of” type of journey. They are planning to celebrate Angel’s Birthday and the team is getting together. Though the story takes you through everyone’s day the reliability that is presented in Edens day draws you in to his character. Or is it his sex appeal?
As the episode continues you get to grown fond of each character and see what they bring to the table. As always, you know I have some Tea for you. Kamar Porter who plays “Dre” in the series is a personal friend of min. He and I went to High School together. It’s amazing to see how his life has turned out. The WORLD now knows him as Kamar but Babeeeeeeeeee, I remember him as Dutch. Back in the day Dutch use to slay the Ballroom scene for the Realness category. Yes gawd hunni. Don’t let that laid back swag fool you. Kamar is a Heart Breaker fo real. But you ain’t heard nothing from me. Haaaaaaaaay Kamar Porter….
As I continued on in the program I had a realization. I am going to have a moment of confessions with you all so brace yourself. I DiamondKesawn, Editor In Chief of Raynbow Affair Magazine have my first Trans Crush. Babeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, Papo can be my Papi and I will call him Daddi do you hear me??? D’Jamel Young aka Papo has this undeniable gangsta and a gentleman swag that is so seductive you get lost in your daydream. I don’t know why they would put Seven and D’Jamel in 1 show, chile the wetness this is liable to cause has the potential to be monsoon season. LoL. Papo is the conscious character of the show. His swag and inelegance is very smooth and enhances each interaction. The fact that Papo’s character is bi-sexual causes you to yet again dismiss all that you thought you knew and ask yourself “how have I missed out on this?” For those, who haven’t missed out on the Papo’s of the world, lucky you. Chile, I am about 30 years late and as soon as I meet Papo the making up begins. Don’t tell him that though.
