Football Shirts, think you know all about them? Think again. For too long shirt’s and shirt, culture have been filed away in the section of the library firmly marked retro, or even worse, nerdy! YEs, of course, there’s an element of the Geek in Jersey love, we’re proud of that. But, there is so much more to shirts nerdism. Football shirts are now an essential part of any street-wear wardrobe. Shirts and shirt design are taken more seriously today than ever before and it’s this, particularly the design and popular culture sense of the once humble jersey that this exhibition looks to explore and celebrate. Shirts are vitally important time capsules which can transport you across place and time and connect people together like no other sartorial garment. Hence the world tour of this exhibition and so ladies and gentleman, enjoy and feast your eyes on The Art of The Football Shirt.
Neal Heard, brand consultant, historian and the author of the superb books: ‘The Football Shirts Book – The Connoisseurs Guide’, ‘Trainers’ – the first and most iconic book on trainer/sneaker culture has curated the show at Le Fix which will be the first on his ‘The Art of the Football Shirt’ World Tour. The show will consist of a curated selection of his collection of vintage football shirts which travel through history, politics, design and popular culture.
