Editor In Chief’s Review: Proud Mary Film

Taraji P. Henson

I finally had the chance to see “Proud Mary” and it was beyond awesome.

Overall, the film gave me very urban family teas. Though it was a drug based family, it reminded me of growing up in Roxbury (a suburb of Boston). LoL! Ironically enough, the filmed is set to take place in Boston as well.

Taraji killed the role of Mary. She gave me ole Pam Grier as Foxy Brown teas and I was here for it. The way she embodied the role really allows you to see her diversity as her emotional scenes were as great as her getter done scenes. Mary was a simple character with a diverse core. From love to family, she shows how one can be cold yet warm at the same time.

Based on casting, storyline, and styling, I give Proud Mary a 10/10. I plan to buy it on DVD and I am happy I was able to support such a great body of work.
