Champions is coming to NBC

Champions

Mindy Kaling is back and I am here for it. It’s no secret that I love Mindy and all of her phenomenal talent. Allow me to introduce you to “Champions.”

Champions” began with Mindy’s desire to tell a fresh New York City story and explore juicy issues like gender, race, and sexuality. The show introduces a lead character who is an extremely confident, gay, half-Indian teen from Cleveland with no money moving to New York to pursue his musical dreams.

In the pilot, we introduce the world to Michael Patel, who moves from Ohio to attend the prestigious Manhattan Academy for the Performing Arts. But upon arriving, he learns he has to live with the father and uncle he never knew existed above their struggling gym in Brooklyn. Sounds like a scene out of my life. LoL!

Michael Patel represents strength, originality, and individuality. I love how he is young yet in his own world and able to present a personality that is verse and relatable. Michael sees the glass as life half full but isn’t afraid to keep it all the way real. I love it!

premieres Thursday, March 8 at 8:30/7:30c on @NBC.
