Since the 1st of October 2017 the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) New York has presented 111 different garments that have influenced fashion over time. The Breton striped shirt has now entered the elitist circle of garments, accessories and decoration that are part of the World Cultural Heritage.
Armor Lux has created a special Breton shirt exclusively for MoMA, available in the MoMA Design Stores and online on store.moma.org for 99 USD, only. A limited edition of 400 shirts entirely made in our mills of Quimper/France is accompanying the exhibition ‘Is Fashion Modern?’.
Jean-Guy LE FLOC’H, CEO of Armor Lux:
“What a symbol! Our brand celebrates the 80 years of its existence in a few months. This is an unbelievable honour for the brand! It is also the endorsement of the legendary quality of our products and our Know-How, but most of all it is the acknowledgement of the people that work for Armor Lux. The Breton Shirt, Mariniere in French, convinces more and more people worldwide every day for its authentic values.
We as Bretons are particularly proud of the history of this garment which has been part of the merchant navy’s uniform since 1858. The Breton Shirt has never been as modern as it is now.”
The exhibition ‘Is Fashion Modern?’ is ongoing and can be visited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York until the 28th of January 2018.
