On Sunday, September 5th, Atlanta’s Piedmont Park will welcome the 9th Pure Heat Community Festival; also known as a free “day of unity.” In accordance, with CDC-approved guidelines, the annual festival will return to Atlanta’s historic Piedmont Park – in a brand-new location inside the park, the Promenade & the fountain next to Magnolia Hall. For 2021 only, The Pure Heat Community Festival will share Piedmont Park with the annual Atlanta Jazz Festival.
Hosted by Melissa “DJ M” Scott, CEO of Traxx Girls, Julius ‘JuJu’ James, CEO of Rockstars Production, Bishop Oliver Clyde Allen III of The Vision Community Foundation, the Pure Heat Community Festival is a front seat into a spectacular gathering of minority LGBTQ people and their allies in the heart of Atlanta. Atlanta Black Pride organizers, in conjunction with the Mayor’s office and the Atlanta Police Department, have taken extra precautions to ensure that all festival participants have a safe and enjoyable weekend in the great peach state.
The free cultural event is equipped with market and food vendors, live celebrity and local performers, entertainment, dance competitions, live hair battles, educational forums, prizes & giveaways – all designed to bring together the spirit of community, pride, and vision. In partnership with The Vision Community Foundation, a portion of proceeds from the weekend’s festivities are used to benefit homeless LGBTQI++ youth and those infected/affected with HIV/AIDS. An exciting line-up of indie-artist performances, honorees, and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks… Stay Tuned!
