Matt Thompson has dropped his first single of 2021, “Accelerate”. After releasing a full-length album No Shame in 2020, Matt is moving forward to experiment with more styles in 2021. Self-identified as a singer-songwriter meets maximalist pop, he intends to convey meaningful messages through the craft of songwriting to resonate with his diverse audience.
“Accelerate“ was produced by Ryan Binhammer, mixed by Jake Vicious, and mastered by Randy Merrill. The song depicts a scenario of rushing into new things impulsively, which always ends up falling through in the end. Matt highlights the slightly dark quality and a stormy soundscape in this track, which was inspired by a situation where he was talking to someone new and the chemistry dissipated due to Matt being overly affectionate too soon.
Matt Thompson is an American pop singer-songwriter based in Washington D.C. He recorded his first demo at the age of 18 and then began writing songs for other artists and projects, before taking the plunge of being a solo artist. Matt released his first single “Wish You the Best (Wish You the Worst)” in 2019, which has generated over 1.5 million streams on Spotify, followed by his track “No Shame” which also reached over a 1 million streams. His debut album No Shame has gone on to accumulate more than 3 million streams and counting. He was recently nominated for four Washington Area Music Awards (WAMMIES).
