Rare groove enthusiast & musician Elhae brings his dynamic, emotive, and narratively rich blend of rap and R&B to Motown. To celebrate signing with the label, the Georgia-raised artist today releases a minimalist visual and ballad version for his sensual single “Fun Fact,” a remix to his original record which features the resonant, Grammy-nominated voice of rapper Rick Ross. The song is both a tender request for physical intimacy and a swaggering avowal of self-confidence. Though this is Elhae’s first Motown release, “Fun Fact (Ballad Version) produced by Keys Open Doors (Ariana Grande) is another stirring addition to his sonically diverse catalog.
A smooth and downtempo affair with a deep bassline, the “Fun Fact” instrumental allows Elhae to blur genre lines so seamlessly that they cease to exist. In control during the verses, Elhae is overrun by passion on the charged hook: “I can’t control this feeling, baby / I need some sexual healing, baby.”
“Elhae is such an incredibly dope artist,” says Motown President Ethiopia Habtemariam. “We are thrilled to have him at Motown. It’s his time.”
While Elhae hints at some of his successes on “Fun Fact,” he would need an entire album to list the achievements of his already remarkable career. In addition to garnering glowing praise from The Fader, Billboard, Vibe, The Source, and more, Elhae was part of Sprite’s P.O.U.R. (Purveyors of Urban Reality) program. His 2016 album All Have Fallenproduced hits like “Doesn’t Matter” (feat. Kehlani) and “Needs,” which has over 19M Spotify streams. 2017’s Aura II EP boasted the Ty Dolla $ign-assisted “Bang Your Line,” which adds to its 24M Spotify streams every day. Outside his solo work, Elhae has collaborated with stars like Lecrae and Eric Bellinger. Following his 2018 Coachella performance, he released his conceptual album Trouble in Paradise (2019). Elhae’s new chapter at Motown begins with “Fun Fact,” and there will undoubtedly be many more captivating songs and career milestones to follow.
