Michael Blume has released his latest song “R U Mad,” and announced his upcoming EP Cynicism & Sincerity, which will be out June 8th via S-Curve Records. Click HERE to listen to the offbeat call-to-arms that showcases Blume’s deep baritone in a confident cadence of eye-catching verses before the provocative refrain, “Are you mad that I’m gay?”. The song is available now at all digital music outlets, including Spotify, Apple/iTunes, and Amazon.
It has also been announced that Michael will be performing at the Annual PRIDE Reception at the Stonewall Inn on Monday, June 4th. The yearly reception highlights the work of the Stonewall Inn’s official 501c3, the Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative (SIGBI), which was founded in 2017, providing support to underserved and marginalized LGBTQ communities within the United States and around the world.
Cynicism & Sincerity includes six songs that could just as easily ignite the dance floor of a sweaty underground club as they could set a festival field in motion with indie charm, sexy soul, and epic pop ambition. They also allow Michael to speak freely in favor of equality and social justice, using his platform to share a message.
“It was important for me to acknowledge the good and the bad,” he explains of the EP’s title. “Even though they’re in opposition to each other, they’re both flourishing at the exact same time. There’s a dichotomy of multiple truths where two things in opposition exist right next to each other.”
“R U Mad” is the latest track from Michael’s forthcoming EP – a body of work that allows Michael the opportunity to push his own personal boundaries and confront the ideas that prevent us from being ourselves. He has teased out the EP’s arrival by way of the undeniably upbeat “Lifting You,” along with the irresistible panache of his current single “Blunder”, which will be impacting Triple A Radio on May 7th. Michael will also be setting off on tour this May with the band Lawrence before heading to Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, TN for a set on Sunday, June 10th.
This release comes following a whirl-wind year for Blume. Since arriving on the scene in 2016, New Jersey-born and New York-based singer, songwriter, and artist Michael Blume has consistently delivered daring, diverse, and dynamic anthems blurring the lines between simmering and soaring. He’s attracted acclaim from Rolling Stone, GQ, Nylon, Ladygunn, Pigeons & Planes, Earmilk, and Dujour and turned the uninitiated into believers at Governors Ball, Firefly, Lollapalooza, and more. Michael Blume has shaped his career by being unapologetically himself and has won over fans and critics with his unabashed honesty and unparalleled vocal prowess.
