This coming June, Playbill will team with Cadillac and The Neon Coven to produce its first-ever live concert event in celebration of Pride 2021. Presented by Cadillac and Playbill Pride, Glimmer of Light will be an inclusive virtual and in-person concert event. One hundred percent of in-person ticket sales will go to benefit Born This Way Foundation and their mission of working with young people to build a kinder and braver world.
Glimmer of Light will take place on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Radial Park in Halletts Point, Queens and will stream the following week on Playbill.com and Playbill’s YouTube channel. The in-person concert event will also feature ASL interpreters.
In-person tickets for Radial Park are now available at https://playbill.ticketleap.com/glimmer-of-light/. Additional information on the free streaming event, including date and time, will follow shortly.
With performances by celebrities from Broadway, television and social media, Glimmer of Light is being created by The Neon Coven, the team behind the wildly popular OSCAR at The Crown, which played Brooklyn’s 3 Dollar Bill in 2019. The concert event will be a celebration of queer youth, adults and allies, while supporting Born This Way Foundation’s initiatives: to show that Kindness is Cool, to Eliminate the Stigma Around Mental Health, and to Validate Emotions.
“We are so proud to be able to evolve Playbill’s annual Pride Celebration this year after the more muted Pride festivities of June 2020,” said Playbill Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Alex Birsh in a statement. “This is an incredible opportunity to bring our LGBTQ+ and ally communities together for an all-out, inclusive, and safe Pride spectacular after being apart for so long. We’ve chosen to prioritize accessibility, as well, by streaming this event free of charge for anyone who can’t be with us in person. Theater is for everyone, and so is Pride.”
Glimmer of Light will feature appearances by Alex Newell, Ariana DeBose, Jo Ellen Pellman, Marti Gould Cummings, Max Crumm, Jan from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and performers from The Neon Coven, as well as more to be announced.
Doors to Radial Park will open at 7:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 17, 2021 for Glimmer of Light, with access to the Playbill Pride Pop-Up Store, Food Trucks, Photo Op, On-Screen Event Pre-Show, and more. The concert will begin at 8:30 p.m. ET.
In-person tickets to Glimmer of Light are purchased in socially distanced “pods.”
*100% of Glimmer of Light proceeds go directly to support Born This Way Foundation.
Radial Park has a GREEN, YELLOW & RED Entry Wristband Covid-19 protocol. All attendees, staff, and performers must be temperature-checked when arriving at the venue and will each receive wristbands that must be worn at all times for entry.
Glimmer of Light is executive produced by Bryan Campione and Leonard Rodino. Created by The Neon Coven, the concert features original music and choreography by Andrew Barret Cox, is written by Mark Mauriello, and is directed by Shira Milikowsky. Carla Tronconis is The Neon Coven’s managing producer.
