Last Saturday night, December 7, 2024 at the Copacabana, Ike Avelli and cast raised the roof with a dazzling show called 50 Shades of Gay: A Christmas Cabaret. The evening was a gay triumph filled with comedy, laughter, song and Christmas spirit…not to mention an array of holiday costumes that challenged the very rainbow out of gay.
The show opened with Chicago House Music/EDM recording artist Irene Michaels adorned in a glamorous Santa’s sexy elf costume. She treated the crowd to a salacious rendition of “Santa Baby.” She captured the stage with beauty and grace and a holiday cabaret spirit. With her opening song she stole the hearts of the congregation and set the stage for the rest of the evening. Irene was last year’s recipient of the Get Out Magazine Award for her contribution to House music with her hit song “I Like Rain” (which also earned her a Josie Award for the same song). She also performed at Gay Pride. Her new hit single “My Heart” is currently creating a huge buzz.
Ike courageously took the stage with his unique brand of comedy and even more unique costumes. Ike is an award-winning talent and the comic relief of the gay community. He’s creative, original, and one of a kind….and one of the nicest guys in the entertainment industry.
The show continued with Wendy Stuart Kaplan, a staple in LGBTQ Nightlife. Her “Twelve Days of Christmas” parody started right off the bat with a subscription to Get Out Magazine…so already she was near and dear…. Wendy is an asset to the Imperial Court of New York and is a strong LGBTQ advocate. She is a performer, comedian, model, author, producer and Podcast host of “If These Walls Could Talk.” Her co-host Tym Moss also performed and was magical as always.
The show also featured Dorothy Bishop, and Jada Valenciaga. There was drag comedy, giveaways, candy canes, and a fun time, it was a perfect lead in to the holiday season. Ike also premiered his new song, drinks were flowing and the party was a huge success…..
