GAYC/DC Let It Rip With “Gay Boy Boogie” Just in Time for Pride Month 2025

n true flamboyant fashion, the world’s gayest AC/DC tribute band, GAYC/DC, is back — and louder than ever — with the release of their new video “Gay Boy Boogie”, a provocative and high-voltage homage dropping just in time to kick off Pride Month 2025.

On this one, I really let it loose. Some lines are a bit shocking,” chuckles frontman Chris Freeman, the band’s founding member and longtime bassist of queercore pioneers Pansy Division. The track is a queer reinterpretation of AC/DC’s 1977 hit “Bad Boy Boogie” — now reborn with unapologetic homoerotic flair and a visual twist inspired by Twisted Sister’s classic “We’re Not Gonna Take It.”

While AC/DC’s original version swaggered with hetero machismo, “Gay Boy Boogie” flips the script with sharp wit, theatrical edge, and NSFW sass. “AC/DC lyrics were always more about attitude than content,” says Freeman. “So I took that same foundation and injected it with our band’s outrageous, queer sense of fun.”

A fan favorite at live shows, the song now comes alive in the studio with an equally raucous video directed by punk rock filmmaker Frank Meyer (The Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs), who also helmed their hit “Highway to Hell” video. The new visual throws it back to glam rock’s rebellious roots, featuring a campy prequel storyline with L.A. Guns’ Johnny Martin reprising his role as “Waldo,” backed by cameos from underground icons including Joanie Pimentel and Don Speziale.

It’s one of the raunchier songs we do live, so we thought, let’s go all in with the video, too,” explains drummer and co-founder Brian Welch. “Our fans expect an R-rated show — and we delivered an R-rated video.”

A love letter to glam metal and a fierce nod to Twisted Sister, the clip also serves as a tribute to late video director Marty Callner, who directed the original “We’re Not Gonna Take It” video and passed away in March 2025. As Welch puts it, “Twisted Sister took rock and drag further than anyone at the time. This is our homage—and thank you—for showing us that fully grown men in makeup could slay every day on MTV, long before Drag Race hit the air.

Even Dee Snider himself gave his nod of approval: “I think this is great!
