Designed By Miley Cyrus, New Converse Pride Collection

Miley Cyrus

Entertainment icon and activist Miley Cyrus recently unveiled her debut Miley x Converse collection and now has revealed the follow-up, specifically centered around Pride month. Designed by Cyrus herself, the Converse Pride collection includes footwear as well as apparel, and all net proceeds will support LGBTQ+ youth community partners globally, including Cyrus’ Happy Hippie Foundation, It Gets Better Project, Minus 18 and RainbowYOUTH.

Cyrus has been a long-standing champion of equal rights and in particular, a staunch advocate for LGBTQ youth. In 2014, she founded The Happy Hippie Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides direct support to thousands of homeless and LGBTQ youth across the country.

This collection includes the hero Chuck Taylor All Star Platform Hi with a multi-color stack inspired by the Pride Flag and Happy Hippie Foundation logo, a Chuck 70 Hi with multi panel stripped sequence upper and the Chuck Taylor All Star with a glitter polka dot printed canvas upper.

The apparel collection features a Converse Pullover Hoodie and Track pant with the Happy Hippie Foundation logo and a rainbow glitter stripe down the sleeves and legs. A glitter polka dot tee available in black or white offers a layering option for mix and match styling to celebrate love any day of the year. The same polka dot print is also featured on a Converse hat.

Cyrus publicly launched Happy Hippie with “Happy Hippie Presents: The Backyard Sessions,” a series of music videos with artist collaborators that celebrated gender diversity and raised funds to support transgender youth in partnership with Gender Spectrum. Since then, Happy Hippie’s programs with Gender Spectrum have reached more than 25,000 transgender youth, their parents, families, educators and healthcare providers with support and educational resources. Additional projects funded by the Happy Hippie Foundation include mental health and support services for nearly 800 transgender individuals in Los Angeles, and providing drop-in counseling, health services, and job readiness programs to nearly 2,000 LGBTQ youth in Orlando and New York City.

As the founder, Cyrus has dedicated countless hours to Happy Hippie’s many initiatives, including the post-election #HopefulHippies movement encouraging grassroots activism and advocacy for marginalized groups whose rights are at risk, and Happy Hippie’s “InstaPride” campaign highlighting the personal stories of support and acceptance among gender expansive individuals. Over the past few years, Cyrus’ work with Happy Hippie has been recognized by organizations including amfAR, who granted her their Award of Inspiration for her efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS, the Los Angeles LGBT Center, and My Friend’s Place for her work with homeless youth in Los Angeles, 40% of whom identify as LGBTQ. Cyrus also received Variety’s 2016 Power of Women award for her philanthropic efforts.
