Blame it on Toby is the first tale in the Rogues Gallery episodic horror anthology. It tells the story of one of the world’s wealthiest men, Arthur Prentiss-Wilcox, who is also one of its most eccentric. For starters, he is never seen in public without his closest confidant – Toby – the doll that was given to him for his sixth birthday and is rumored to be responsible for the death of dozens. Despite his infamous reputation, a young gay couple, Calvin and Edward, become ensnared in Arthur’s world with horrifying consequences.
Produced by Fox on a Hill Productions, Blame it on Toby was filmed on location in Chicago using a local cast and crew out of a production office at Stage 18 (Chicago’s film incubator on the lot of Cinespace Studios). The anthology series is created by two-time Midwest Emmy winner Richard Knight Jr., who also wrote and directed the 48min standalone pilot.
Blame it on Toby first premiered at Music Box of Horrors in Chicago before screening at other horror festivals such as Screamfest at the TCL Chinese Theater. Most recently it played at Boston’s LGBT Film Festival, Wicked Queer, before heading to Chicago for Reeling.
