Who’s ready for a “Papi Chulo”

On DVD November 5, “Papi Chulo” stars Matt Bomer (“Magic Mike”, Magic Mike XXL”, “The Magnificent Seven”) as a weatherman on the verge of a mental breakdown after a hard breakup, and Alejandro Patiño (“The Ballad of Buster Scruggs”) as the day laborer who reluctantly must help put him back together again. Despite a language barrier and having nothing in common, the two men develop an unexpected but profound friendship. KPCC FilmWeek called the film “sweet” and Eye for Film praised Butler for his “…delicate touch to both tragedy and comedy and the result is a genuinely heartwarming film.” (Eye for Film).
