A Different Direction

Let me catch you up on the new film “A Different Direction.” Sampson McCormick’s fifth overall scripted film, and first scripted film that he has written and directed, featuring a brilliant cast that includes Darryl Stephens (Noah’s ARC, Boy Culture), Ms. Laura Hayes (Martin, Queens of Comedy, Def Comedy Jam) and Sampson McCormick (That B*%@# Better Be Funny, VICELAND, BET).. the story line follows a black, gay 30 something named Frankie Bailey, a writer and photographer working to make ends meet, and is forced to confront one of the biggest challenges of his life. It contains themes of mental health, domestic violence, Black LGBTQ experiences and relationships with family.

It begins screening this month, and will begin making it’s way around the country starting next month. Y’all betta get ready!

In addition to that, Sampson, a nearly two decade veteran of the stage, and hailed as a pioneer in queer comedy, and was one of the first out, black gay men in comedy, and made history last year as the first comedian to ever perform at a Smithsonian Museum, will be heading on another comedy tour, which will visit cities including Storrs, CT, Louisville, KY and Oakland, CA in addition to over three dozen other cities. This Spring, he’ll be taping his fourth live comedy concert special, releasing a hot half hour performance, set to be taped in the San Francisco Bay Area and released on several major international streaming platforms.
