Did you know that there is a Facebook group for LGBTQIA+ postal employees? It’s called the USPS & LGBTQIA+ Alliance. “The USPS & LGBTQIA+ Alliance is a professional network where current and former LGBTQIA+ United States Postal Service employees and retirees can find support, information, resources, and discuss issues relevant to the LGBTQIA+ community,” said group Founder, Gregory Huff. He originally founded it in 2016 as a Yahoo group, then moved to Facebook under the name “Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender U.S. Postal Employee Group.” But the name changed in February 2021. “The old name didn’t fully express our desire to include everyone in the diverse LGBTQIA+ community,” said Huff.
“This group is primarily for current, former, or retired USPS LGBTQIA+ employees, but current and former USPS employees and retirees who are LGBTQIA+ allies are also welcome to join,” said Matt Shina, Co-Admin for the group. “Employees who join should participate off the clock via their own personal computers. This year we are planning virtual meet & greets, virtual meetings with engaging guest speakers who will have interesting, relevant topics, and more. Most of all, we’re looking forward to meeting you!” he said. The group is not officially endorsed by the U.S. Postal Service.
