About the Director /Creator

From music videos to television sitcoms to some of today’s classic movies from the 80’s and 90’s, Jamal A. Gordon developed a love for the entertainment industry. Throughout grade school he grew a fondness for hip-hop and acting. Although, reality sank in and Jamal’s dream of being a rapper started fading away, he never lost his love for movies and acting. At the age of 17 he was offered his first lead management position at Motion Picture Entertainment, where he managed a movie theater. That is where Jamal began to study the art of film and documentaries from the likes of some of the greatest directors in the world like Spike Lee, John Singleton, and Quentin Tarantino.

Jamal teamed up with others who shared the same passion for the craft by developing music videos and producing numerous corporate training DVD’s. It was not until Jamal entered his thirties when he decided to purchase his own full-fledged video production studio. Jamal decided to venture off on his own to pursue his dream of contributing to the movie industry with meaningful topics that he felt could help make a change in society.  Jamal’s freshman project entitled Child Support: From a Man’s Perspective, a documentary of a topic that hits very close to home, focuses on the role of a father in his child(ren) lives. The documentary also expresses that no matter the cost, the child is the most important attribute of two parents.

Jamal is premiering the film in August to acknowledge National Child Support month and is currently working on an official release date for the freshman project and has started developing his next documentary focused on black culture.
